Episode 52 - Man Bites Dog (1992) - “It’s the Last Season, We Gotta Kill Some Kids”
This week on the pod, We’re being taken all over Belgium as we learn the finer about the finer things in life, such as architecture, music, history, and of course the best way to ballast a corpses. On this episode we watched the laugh-a-minute riot that is 1992’s “Man Bites Dog”. us as we talk about what we consider one of the best, least talked about villains in film; or at least the most captivating. We also marvel at how this project that seemingly started with no agenda other than 4 friends wanting to make a low budget filmed turned into one of the greatest commentary’s on media violence. Also discussed on today’s episode, the true art of serial killing? Is 2025 the summer of Mormon-Maxing? And which Celebrity’s night of regret do YOU want to be? Episode 51 - Boogie Nights (1997) - 'Video Killed the Porn Star'
Spring is here and we’ve got us another birthday on our hands here on the IDNTST Pod. This week we’re celebrating Aarons birthday with trip back to a simpler time, one of fast cars, loose women and as much cocaine as you can inhale! This week we watched 1997’s ode to the golden age of adult film making; Boogie Nights! ittedly, this film is a bit of a break in format, but hey a man kills himself at a party and another goes to jail for child pornography, so as far as we’re concerned this is still on brand for us! us as we bask in the love of filmmaking that this movie really showcases, and how even though it’s about the death of Porn stars into the 80’s, there’s also some modern comparisons to the changes in film consumption into the 90’s. Also discussed, All time bitch mother rants, how much did porn stars actually make in their heyday, and after all is said and done, was the real villain behind the rubber mask just Reaganism? this and more on this weeks episode of “I Didn’t Need to See That!”  Follow us:  Email: [email protected] Instagram: @Ididntneedtoseethatpod

Episode 50 - Irréversible (2002) - 'Gaspar No Way Am I Watching That Again'
Episode 50 - Irréversible (2002) - 'Gaspar No Way Am I Watching That Again'
Welcome everyone to a very special episode. This week marks the 50th episode of the podcast if you can believe it! We wanted to save something special for you all on this monumental achievement for us, and trust us we didn’t let you down. This week, keep the dramamine handy and if you have epilepsy or are triggered by any sort of sexual violence whatsoever, seriously don’t watch this film. We head into the bowels of hell as depicted by a gay night club in Gaspar Noe’s 2002 Rape Revenge-told-in-reverse film, “Irreversible”. Whether it’s the nauseating soundtrack, the frenetic camera work, or the infamous 9-minute rape scene, this movie is truly an assault in every way shape and form. us as we dive deep into the psychological toll a movie like this has on a viewer and the impact it has by almost leaving it’s audience not as mere spectators to violence, but complicit in it as well. Also discussed on the episode are the rampant bouts of homophobia from the films lead character, and just in the film itself, the beauty that is Monica Belluci, and whose films are you recommending to your parents next, Gaspar Noe or Lars Von Trier? This and more on the 50th episode of “I Didn’t Need to See That!”  Follow us:  Email: [email protected] Instagram: @Ididntneedtoseethatpod

Episode 49 - Rabid (1977) - 'When I'm Dead, Throw Me In the Trash'
This week, we honestly needed a kind of buffer film between heavy hitters, so we decided to sojourn back to the serene 1970’s French Canadian countryside as we watch a woman infect a whole town with her armpit stinger! We’re covering one of David Cronenberg’s early films with the 1977 body horror feature “Rabid”. us as we talk about the early days of Canadian Treasure Cronenberg himself and feel a fond sense of nostalgia for a decade neither of us were alive to see. Plus, the disgusting eating habits of teens, Can Adult Film Actresses transition to mainstream film roles these days? Spoiler Warning for later episodes of White Lotus! And we attempt to settle the long standing debate of Is “Twink” A slur? Episode 48 - Tetsuo: The Iron Man (1989) - 'Sleek Schlong Symbolism'
On this week’s episode, spring isn’t the only thing that’s awakening. We’re celebrating Pete’s Birthday! And for the birthday boys pick, we’ve dived into the world of flesh consumed by metal with 1989’s “Tetsuo The Iron Man”. us as we step back into the wondrous world of independent filmmaking and marvel at just how visually stunning this movie looks, and how miserable of a shoot it was. This is a film who’s influences are very present in it’s grungy, phallic, cyberpunk aesthetic, yet maintains an identity and vibe all it’s own. Also discussed are the films potential influence on the art of Trent Reznor and Nine Inch Nails, how much is enough to ask your friend to come help out on your first film shoot, and how in the end, this is really story of queer love overcoming all obstacles. So kick your feet up, relax and let the the sheer sexual thrill take hold of you on this week’s episode of “I Didn’t Need To See That!”  Follow us:  Email: [email protected] Instagram: @Ididntneedtoseethatpod

Episode 47 - Trauma (2017) - 'A Chilean Film'
This week on the podcast, pack the Mazda full of white wine, and for the love of god share your location with someone, because we’re getting ready for a girls trip! We sat down and watched the 2017 Chilean made, Rape-Revenge Horror film, “Trauma”. A special shout out, as this was a fan recommendation, we officially  got more than we bargained for! This movie seems to really wear its influences on the surface, pulling from such French Extremity films like “Martyrs” and “Frontiers”; and most notably “A Serbian Film”. While the film is notably low budget and at times weak in story, it’s more than effective in its shock, thoroughly entertaining in its splash of action and some great practical effects.. that is if you can get past its need to make you vomit and recoil throughout the duration of the film. Get your bags ready because this was a real gross one! Episode 46 - Eraserhead (1977) - 'Parenting... It's a Real Nightmare'

CW: Incest, Rape, Interspecies Erotica Grab your chemistry sets and start mixing and matching whatever the hell you want, because in our first episode of 2025, we’re playing God so much they may as well be a Las Vegas craps table. This week we watched the 2010 Sci-Fi/Horror film Splice. us as we Marvel ™ at a creature that is equal parts unsettling, and also the most powerful X-men ever created? While this movie may have been a box-office bomb, we both had a fun time with this B-movie science-gone-wrong flick that takes a VERY hard turn in the last act. Also discussed in todays episodes are the films tired tropes of motherhood as the only arc for its female protagonist, the cliched Blue-Filter look of a late aughts film, and how while this movie makes a running, Dogtooth is still the best movie on parenting. CW: Rape, Genocide, Abortion, Cannibalism, Graphic Violence, Live Animal Cruelty, 1980’s American Hubris, Italians  Well everyone, we’ve waded through all manner of viscera and carnal delights to arrive at our final episode of the year and the capper to our Christmas with the Cannibals. That’s right, on today’s episode we dive into the notorious 1980 Found Footage-Horror Documentary film “Cannibal Holocaust”. us today as we discuss with the film with a history of making it that’s even more interesting than the film itself. We’ll dig through the myths and legends around the films perceived crimes while discussing some of the actual crimes this films director committed in the making of Cannibal Holocaust, on top of just overall being kind of a bastard man. Also discussed today are how well the films commentary on imperialism holds up against scrutiny and does it justify the cruelty displayed in the film, Do these characters deserve the cruel fate that falls up on them? Episode 41 - Raw (2016) - 'Ohh, Baby I Like It Rawww'
CW: Violence, gore, depictions of cannibalism Come One Come all to the flesh eaters ball. This month we’re capping off our year of themes with a tried and true cultural taboo just in time for the holidays; It’s Christmas with the Cannibals ya’ll! This month we’re digging into 2 films that highlight the fascinating, grotesque, and even horny topic of Cannibalism; Kicking things off with the 2016 coming-of-age horror film, Raw. us as we revisit one of our favorite directors, Julia Ducournau (see our coverage of her film “Titane” on one of our earlier episodes) with her debut film that got everybody talking, and even a few people vomiting in their seats. We discuss how Raw serves as a sort of dry run for themes we’ll see Ducournau continue in her follow up film, and how some of the most visceral moments of grotesquerie in this film aren’t even the cannibalism! (But those get pretty gnarly too). Also discussed on today’s episode, Can women actually pee standing up? Is there a Bechdel test for gay men? And Does PETA actually care if you eat people? Episode 39 - Nymphomaniac Vol. 2 (2013) - 'The Odyssey of Pain'
This week we head out of the sheets and into the streets as we close out our coverage on the Nymphomaniac saga with Nymphomaniac Volume 2. This week we flipped the script, as Aaron watched the Theatrical cut and Pete watched the Directors cut with a full 54 minutes of extra content including extra double penetration, and possibly the most graphic abortion ever depicted on film. We’re in full Odyssey territory here folks. But it’s not all bad! We talk in todays episode about how through all the needless pontification from the Seligman character, and all the physical and sexual abuse our character of Joe endures, there’s actually an incredibly strong case for this being highly feminist movie. Also discussed today are the rules of consent in the BDSM community, when NOT to tell your wife it’s ok to step out on their marriage, and how it really feels like Lars Von Trier just wrote every taboo he could think of and put into this film. Episode 38 - Nymphomaniac Vol 1. (2013) - 'We are Now Entering 'The Hoe Era''
We may be done with Satan, but we’re not quite done with Sinning. us for the month of November as we embark on the fluid-filled odyssey of sex that is Lars Von Trier’s 2013 film “Nymphomaniac”; a saga covered in 2 parts! us as we discuss this masterful film made by a truly insufferable human being. While at times we both think this script is trying to just come off as “look at how smart I am” by just saying pseudo-intellectual things without any sort of clear indication or thematic through line, we still find this to be one of Von Trier’s Best films. Strong performances by the two female leads, a brash and cold representation of sex; and a whole lot of it at that, give this film a bite that few other films have. Also discussed on the episode are how refreshing it is to see this depiction of sex in media, the politics of cheating, and how Shia LeBeouf really should be kept away from the general public. Episode 37 - Hereditary (2018) - 'Masterpiece of Misery'
CW: Violence, Gore On this week’s episode, we’re blowing out the candle on this seance as we close out our super spooky double feature on Demonic Possession with a modern all-timer in 2018’s “Hereditary”. Keep an eye on that weird, sentient light, beware of naked old people and for the love of god, check the cake for nuts! in with us as we both revisit a film that we; for the first time in podcast history (apparently?!), agree is a certified banger of a film. From Toni Collette’s Oscar-worthy performance, Colin Stetson’s noteworthy score, and of course the man of the hour himself, first time writer-director Ari Aster and how he crafted a true horror masterpiece. Also discussed, the “A24 boom”, how we’d be mad too if mom tried to light us on fire, and honestly speaking, King of Hell doesn’t sound like all that bad of a title. Episode 36 - Evil Dead (2013) - 'Satan's Back!'
CW: Brutal Violence, Gore, simulated sexual assault, the dog dies Welcome to October and Hail Satan, Ya’ll! This month, we’re being full on sluts for the dark lord as we celebrate the spookiest season of all with our double feature on the theme of Demonic Possession. We’re kicking these doors open wide with a full on gore-fest as we watched the 2013 Supernatural horror remake, “Evil Dead”. We locked ourselves in for a rollercoaster ride of viscera, limbs and a literal climax of raining blood. We also ponder, is this one of the best horror remakes of the 2010’s, or just another Tuesday at Glen Danzig’s home? Episode 35 - Polytechnique (2009) - 'Putting the 'Man' in 'Manifesto''
This week on I Didn’t Need To See that, we close out our month of covering films on School Shootings (thank god) as we cover a lesser known tragedy and film (by American standards) and journey into the wild winters of Montreal, QC as we watched the 2009 film “Polytechnique”.  Based on the harrowing true story of the 1989 École Polytechnique Engineering school massacre, tune in today as we grapple with the true horror of what unfolded on that fateful day, and how film still serves as a means of education and call to action in a world largely numb to the daily onslaught of tragedy in the news. On brighter notes in the episode, we marvel at the technical competence show by director Denis Villeneuve long before he was known as one of the great modern directors. Also, we again faun over the days of smoking indoors as depicted in films, talk about how incels aren’t just America’s problem, and you can’t spell Manifesto without “Man”. Episode 34 - Elephant (2003) - 'Dylan and Eric Awesome Show, Great Job!'
Settle in gang, because Fall is here. That means cozy sweaters, crisp leaves on the ground, pumpkin spice lattes. And sadly, in some cases, the smell of gun smoke in the classrooms, as this month we decided to cover two films that cover what is truly the great North American tragedy of School Shootings. This week we start with 2003’s “Elephant”. Written and directed by Gus Van Sant, this film (which ultimatley started as a documentary about the 1999 Columbine High School Massacre) works as a placid yet horrifying day-in-the life portrayal. We also applaud the erie sound design and comps to last year’s “Zone of Interest”, as well as the dedication to stoic reality in acting over heightened drama. Also discussed are the actual banality of tragic events like this, our mixed thoughts on the ending of the movie, and how when the world was in shambles on 9/11, Pete just wanted to watch SpongeBob and Nickelodeon held it down.  All this and more on this week’s episode of “I Didn’t Need To See That!”  Follow us:  Email: [email protected] Instagram: @Ididntneedtoseethatpod
